HOW TO: CREATE FLOWER POTS & PLANTERS
Creating your own amazing flower pots, planters, and window boxes is easy. Stop by Wildflower Farm for flowers, soil, pots, and tools...and then sit back and enjoy your colorful creation for the rest of the summer!
Here's how to do it this weekend: GATHER SUPPLIES: Gather planting soil, containers with drainage holes, annual flowers for conditions (sun vs. shade), planting tools and/or small shovel.
PLAN YOUR DESIGN: Choose bright, blooming flowers appropriate for light conditions, and lay out your design before planting. Choose a tall flower centerpiece or a grass spike for the center. Surround the centerpiece by foliage, textured greenery, and other flowers; choose flowers that will cascade down the side of the container's edges for a flowing effect.
PLANT FLOWERS: Water flowers before removing them from their containers. Gently slide flowers from containers, and then separate roots before planting them in the container's soil. Add extra planting soil as needed to cover the roots of the flowers.
ONGOING FLOWER CARE: Maintain bright blooms by watering flowers daily, dead-heading, and fertilizing frequently to promote flowering longevity.
